Iasta, a leading provider of eSourcing software and solutions recently donated their SmartSource SRM® software to Project Open Hand, an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that exists to support the management and prevention of chronic diseases. Project Open Hand is the country's largest provider of home-delivery meals and spends millions each year on the purchasing, warehousing, and delivery of food. This collaborative relationship was created to assist the nonprofit in drastically reducing purchasing costs, while still delivering an uncompromising quality of service to its customers.

One of Project Open Hand's primary goals was to fund an additional 100,000 meals annually to those in need. Their strategy involved collaborating with the right for-profit business partners who could help them adopt a more analytical approach to purchasing. By creating a line item database consisting of 10 food categories and integrating it with Iasta's SmartSource eSourcing platform, Project Open Hand was able to evaluate and qualify suppliers and mostly importantly, price competitiveness. The projected savings for the nonprofit is $600,000 annually.
