Software Documentation Technical Writer
Job Description:
Local software company Iasta (www.iasta.com) is looking for an experienced software documentation writer to join our growing team at our office in Carmel to help with the writing of clear and concise client documentation for our e-Sourcing software application and related websites and services.
The position involves:
- Creating user documentation with screenshots for online and printed distribution
- Updating existing documentation in support of ongoing software updates and process changes
- Creating or conducting other related user training as needed
- Assisting software developers and operations staff during the documentation process with software usability and quality testing in support of new releases
- Creatively working in a small team environment with developers, operations staff, and client specialists with the goal of developing effective documentation and training material for world-class enterprise software
Requirements
- College degree, preferably in Technical Writing, Journalism, Education or English, with a minor or significant course work in Computer Science or Informatics.
- Must possess excellent writing skills and strong analytical skills
- Must be able to compose clear, concise, and easily understandable text and screenshots about procedural and conceptual subject matter related to software applications
- Must be a strong team player, able to work within a team structure while creatively working on independent assignments
- Must be comfortable in meetings and be able to discuss topics with team members for information and feedback
- Additional experience or coursework in User Interface Design/Analysis or Usability Analysis is a very strong plus
- Must have strong computer literacy
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in technical writing, preferably for commercial software, Internet applications, or websites.
